Questions I will ask
I’ll be asking these questions to help me understand your project and how I can deliver:
- What is your project?
- When do you need it delivered by (or are you just scoping out possibilities for now)?
- Why is this project important?
- What do you want the results to be?
- Who are the project stakeholders?
- Are you comparing this project against another, similar project and its performance?
I’ll send a proposal following the scope call to give you all the details of what I’d deliver:

- Timings
- Everything that’s included in my service
- Prices
If you are happy with it, we go to step 3. But if you have any questions, just let me know.
It’s go time! We’ll sign the contract and you’ll reserve my time with the first payment.
The contract will contain all the legal elements of working with me. It’s standard stuff and written in plain English so everyone can understand it. Simple.
Like most writers worth their salt, I ask for an up-front payment to book my time (this is often 50% of the project fee). This guarantees you that I will make time for your project and not squeeze it in between other clients as a rush job. We’ve both got skin in the game.
It’s time to get down to business! Now, I’ll crack on with the project according to our agreed timings.
I’ll deliver the first draft with time for reviews and amends. Then I can refine things according to your feedback (you get one round of larger amends and one round of final, small tweaks). Finally, you’ll get a polished piece of copy or content ready to go.
When all the copy is complete and we’re all happy with it, I’ll send you the last invoice for payment. Once paid, all rights to the content and copy belong to you.
